Five minutes with… Wilma Hauesler
Wilma is an assistant on our South Australian biodynamic* farm, harvesting the Calendula, Roses, Violas, and many other flowers used in our products. Having grown up on a farm, she has a natural passion for tending to the earth and sustainable living. After seven years working on our farm, Wilma still savours the morning sunrise over the South Adelaide Hills.
I’m passionate about the earth and sustainability. I was born and raised on a farm, and so my family was able to grow everything it needed. Tending to the earth and living sustainably is therefore something that comes naturally to me. It’s what I’ve always known.
I love Calendula harvest time. We only pick our Calendula when it’s at its peak. This is after the morning dew has left and the flowers are open. They’re so nice and easy to pick – and I just love the colour.
The best thing about my job is being surrounded by flowers every day. They’re beautiful and working with them every day makes me feel happy. You can lend a natural herbaceous scent to any room by placing herbs such as lavender with flowers in a bud vase. They look great when all mixed up together.
My favourite Jurlique product is… Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream. It feels amazingly fresh and natural on my skin. Did you know that Calendula got its name because it has the ability to flower in every month of the calendar in mild climates?
