Scientific Name: Rosa Gallica
Rosa gallica extract is used to soften, balance, and restore the skin. Rose extracts have antioxidant properties which help protect the skin against environmental damage and prevent skin from premature ageing.
Rosa gallica has been grown since 1200 AD. For centuries it was grown for its medicinal qualities, which is why it is widely known as the ‘Apothecary’s Rose’. It is also said to be the ‘Red Rose of Lancaster’, the emblem chosen by the House of Lancaster at the time of the War of the Roses.
